Fueling A Sustainable Future

We don’t just talk about sustainability - we take action, because we believe that creating a better world for generations to come starts today.

Working Toward Zero Waste

We proudly support the sustainability goals of the {Mississippi State University Office of the President. Here are a few active initiatives.

  • Robust Recycling

We recycle cardboard, metal, paper, glass, and accepted plastic products, and we recycle uncommon items—such as batteries and printer cartridges—wherever possible.

  • Collaborative Composting

We work with student organizations and local partners to collect organic materials—including food waste and compostable service items such as napkins and wooden stir sticks—to be composted into useable, nutrient-rich soil amendments.

  • Proactive Prevention

We use tracking and forecasting tools to proactively identify food waste trends in order to alter our preparation accordingly.

Showcasing Our Local Partner Relationships

Eating Made Easy Dining sources food from many local farmers, growers, and distributors. Our partners change throughout the year depending on seasonality and availability.

  • MSU Student Farm

The MSU Student Farm partners with MSU Dining to provide fresh, locally grown produce straight from campus fields to students’ plates. Through this collaboration, seasonal vegetables and greens are incorporated into dining menus, supporting sustainability, enhancing food quality, and creating a true farm-to-table experience while giving students hands-on agricultural learning opportunities.

  • MSU College of Agriculture & Life Science

MSU Dining proudly partners with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences to bring high-quality, locally sourced products to campus. Fresh eggs from the Poultry Science department and dairy items, including milk, cheese, and ice cream from MAFES, support student-driven research while delivering farm-fresh flavor to the dining experience.
